October is our Wedding Month!

It's been nearly one year since our wedding day! Yes, it really is! Where has that time gone? Life has been chaotic this past year; we have had some personal losses to come to terms with, and moved counties, which took a long 7 months of emailing solicitors to get here. Life has been full, so I had a little time out from blogging this past summer. As I get back into the swing of things, a year on from our wedding date, we still have a pile of wedding thank yous to send out, and we have finally enjoyed our very belated honeymoon!

Hopefully, life is starting to settle down (does it ever?), I am finally getting some wedding blogs written and some huge mentions and thank yous along the way.

Let's start with our wedding scents!

My Choice!

Perfume bottle with gold accents, black cap, and a stylish, intertwined gold logo. Transparent background, elegant and luxurious design.

The perfume I chose for our wedding day was YSL Libré. It is my favourite perfume,

I will instantly recognise if another person is wearing it! And a few of my brides have!

Libre is the French word for free! With the sense of freedom comes a strong, powerful scent with this perfume. It surrounds you with the aromas of orange blossom, lavender, Jasmine, vanilla, amber and cedar wood. These luxury scents all work together to create an indulgent perfume that is rich, warm, bold and powerful.

I wouldn't have wanted to make any other statement for my Wedding Day.

Jason's Choice

Dark bottle of Jo Malone London cologne, labeled Cypress & Grapevine Cologne Intense, with a metallic cap on a white background.

Jason's choice of cologne was a last-minute visit to the Joe Malone store the day before the wedding. Knowing Jason, it was a spontaneous moment without any logic at all, but he chose Jo Malone's Cypress and Grapevine.

This is an earthy woody scent with notes of Cypress to keep it fresh. Grapevine, cedar wood and vetiver to keep it strong and masculine. It has the added warmth of amber for hints of interest and sweetness. He picked well, and I just can't get enough of this handsome cologne. I just love it when he wears it.

Our wedding scent!

Clear glass candle with metallic lid. Label reads "Jo Malone London, Honeysuckle & Davana Scented Candle." Simple, luxurious design.

Yes, our wedding had a scent. We chose a signature scent for our reception Party.

We popped to Joe Malone in Cambridge city centre to have a look at what candles they had on offer. I originally had a few of the flowery one's in mind, "Wild bluebell", "Peony and blush suede", "English Pear and Freesia", and "Red Roses", as these seemed like traditional wedding scents. But as I was discussing this with the store assistant, she showed me Honeysuckle and Davana from Joe Malone candle Collection. That was it, my mind was made up, this was the one to remember our wedding day forever. It was perfect. As a premium scent that isn't overly flowery or sweet, with a mixture of slight fruity, floral and earthy tones, it brings an air of luxury to your environment. It smells elegant, sophisticated and expensive. We wanted the reception to be a warm and inviting atmosphere, which would embrace our guests as they wandered from room to room.

We had the candle burning in the reception area; it was supposed to be for when everyone arrived, but with the rush of the wedding morning, I totally forgot to pass it to our wedding planner until after our guests arrived. It was slowly flickering away during the wedding reception when everyone was mingling around and mooching from room to room. We wanted a fragrance to linger in the air and envelope everyone as they sipped their drinks and welcomed them to our wedding.

People commented on the candle and even asked if they could take it home with them. It was a little attention to detail that I am so glad we remembered. I love, love, love it and every time I burn that candle, the smell surrounds me with that moment of pure happiness and contentment among all our loved one's.

Writing this, I have realised that I obviously gravitate towards earthy tones with warm amber to add to the elegance and sophistication of the occasion.

These fragrance's worked alongside the theme of our wedding with their contrast of masculine and feminine scents, combined with the dark and lightness of our wedding colours, and our wedding venue. Our wedding colours were burnt orange, black and ivory, and our venue was black and white, simple, sophisticated and elegant.

I just can't get enough of our wedding day scents as they just take me back to the most special moment in time, they symbolise the commitment we made, the start of our new life together and created lasting memories with those we love.

Jay, if you are reading this, you know that you can forever buy me anything Honeysuckle & Davana for any birthday, Christmas or anniversary to come, and you will never get it wrong!
